From Hardship to Success: Anitha Ingabire Inspires Youth in Rutsiro on Women’s Day

RUTSIRO, RWANDA — On March 8, 2026, the Western Province officially celebrated International Women’s Day in the Kivumu Sector of Rutsiro District. Led by the Governor of the Western Province, Jean Bosco Ntibitura, alongside Members of Parliament, the event paired policy milestones with powerful community transformation initiatives. The celebrations were marked by major civic milestones, including:

• 70 houses handed over to families displaced by recent natural disasters.
• 16 families transitioning from informal settlements to officially register their legal marriages.
• 15 families previously experiencing domestic conflict successfully reconciled.
• Livestock distribution to local households under the national Girinka initiative.

Governor’s Call for Shared Community Responsibility

In his keynote address, Governor Ntibitura expressed profound gratitude to Rwanda's national leadership for pioneering gender equality policies that position women at the center of the nation's development.

He urged men and women to stand together to protect the community’s future:

"We must work hand-in-hand to prevent family conflicts, protect young girls from early pregnancies, combat child malnutrition, ensure complete school attendance, and maintain strict hygiene and sanitation."

A central highlight of the celebration was the inspiring testimony of 26-year-old entrepreneur Anitha Ingabire, founder of the Anitha Humanity Initiative. Originally from Rutsiro District, Ingabire shared her journey of overcoming childhood poverty and paternal neglect to build a successful real estate career in Kigali.

Turning her success into immediate local impact, Ingabire announced the launch of a targeted project built to foster self-reliance among vulnerable women and girls.

To kickstart the initiative, she pledged to personally cover school fees and meals for 100 students who dropped out due to early pregnancies. She strongly encouraged the youth to embrace practical technical trades—such as tailoring, digital communication, and driving—to build their own financial independence.
